Push/Pull Tendency Topic

What's everyone's thoughts on the impact of a Push/Pull Tendency rating? Is a high rating better?

The higher the rating the more the hitter will hit to the opposite field. Is this better or worse? I would say it depends on the individual hitter and what his purpose on your squad is, what ball park the game is being played in, and whether or not you use H&R a lot.

I will note that I have never looked at the push/pull rating for any of my players and I don't even consider it when looking for FAs or draft picks

so, I don't think it is important at all in terms of abilities of a player ... I just think it is one of those things that is in the game to add the "realism" that exists in real life ... some guys pull the ball, others don't ... two equally effective strategies when done by a skillful player

Not true Green. Push pull tendency is not a cosmetic setting if that is what you are suggesting. I am not saying I target it because it is way down on the list; however, it definitely carries considerable weight in terms of h&r, and I would venture to say in certain parks with odd dimensions...

Do the park dimensions matter? I read on here that the dimensions don't matter, only the park factors. For instance, would a right hander w/ a strong push tendancy hit as many doubles as the otherwise equal righty w/ a strong pull factor playing in Fenway w/ the green monster?

Yes, dimensions are cosmetic, factors are what matter. I meant factors not dimensions. Sorry about that.

Now that's a dimension that we can all enjoy.

I have Honolulu as a home park, so I avoided RH sluggers who are big-time pull hitters. It's been pretty effective.
