I am a B+ D2 team. I am looking to possibly taking a D2 recruit instead of pulling down, but an A+ D3 is already on him and has a 380 mile advantage on me. I am willing to take this kid if I drop 10 trips and a scholly offer, he is high in the cores with a good WE, but I don't want to get into a battle.

How much $ do you think I'd have to spend to beat the D3 team? He has 4 schollys available.

What I am asking is, is the A+ D3 prestige + the miles factor too much for me to overcome? He has some $ to battle I'm sure, but I do get the extra $2K per scholly plus we had 4 tourney teams last season.

You should be able to easily destroy him. 10 visits is overkill. Remember, he has way less money than you do. I'd go with a few home visits and see what happens. Once the D3 sees you on the radar, he'll back off. Remember, you're the big dog and he's the little dog, he will be scared of you.

On another note, I haven't seen the recruit you're talking about but if you're battling D3 schools for recruits, you're not aiming high enough. Wait for dropdowns, you should be able to pick up guys in the 500-550 overall rating to recruit.

That's what I figured, I just wasn't sure how big the difference was between us. Thanks. And on the other note, D1 pulldowns that have responded to me have been either swiped by closer, better prestige school, or they just aren't good enough. This particular recruit is a top of the barrel D2 kid, his overall is in the 500 range. I'll bide my time, though.

Thanks again for the response.

Don't overestimate how much more money you have than him. How many openings do you both have, and you say 380 mile advantage but how far are you guys exactly from this recruit. There is a big difference from him being 10 miles away and you being 390 miles away then there is if he were 390 miles away and you were 770 miles. In the 1st example he'd have a huge advantage in the 2nd his advantage is minimal.

He's ~100 miles away. I'm going to look elsewhere, I have enough money, but 5-6 better D1 kids after searching a little bit farther gave me the backup message after this recent rollover. Being in Kansas makes you have to be very patient, I've learned.

Why would you want him if he's a DIII recruit. You should be looking to get low DI kids, not high DIII kids. Who is your competition? DIII or DII?

He is listed as a D2 kid, the A+ was pulling him down. It's moot regardless, I've gone in a different direction.
