Recruiting questions/dropdowns Topic

So I was able to take over div II St. Jospeh's
in crum based on playing 1 season a couple years ago, but I'm still working out this recruiting thing.

I have 3 scholarships open. This is my planned strategy, let me know what you think and if I've got the details right?

When recruiting starts, pick up the FSS in my state of Indiana, and see if I can find 1 or 2 solid players to recruit.
When the signing period begins, pick up the FSS in a couple surrounding states (cause it gets cheaper at signing period, right?) and try to land a Div I dropdown and fill out my other schollie if I haven't already.

Sound reasonable?

Also, how do I monitor the div I dropdowns? Do the then show up at the div II level or are they still listed as Div I? How do I know if someone has dropped down or is able to be pulled down? I don't quite have a handle on this tactic.

Thanks for any help

If you call your DI prospects once , they'll tell you if you're a backup, etc. If you get slammed, or get no response, move on.

If you're a backup option, they'll contact you when they're on your DII screen.

Also, everyone you call will appear on your summary page. You can easily see who's considering other schools

Cool, so the dropdown technique starts with a bunch of phone calls to local div I guys who are on the lower end of the div I talent pool?

Yes, but only one call/recruit is needed

Got it.

I wouldn't wait... I have an A prestige, and within the first 4 cycles anyone who was going to dropped around me were considering other div II schools because they pulled them down. Anything that actually drops to you and your C- prestige after signings would be garbage. Nothing remotely decent within 500 miles (in the 14 states i FSS'd) are for my A prestige. Just a hunch, but I doubt anything would be better with your C-.

Will a recruit send you an email when he drops down if you sent him materials instead of calling him? I don't think they can refuse the materials, right?

I've visited a player who was originally listed as DI for me and he is now considering me. I'm moving on a few others this cycle so we'll see how it turns out. I have a lot of money so I'm gonna hit an undecided who seemed out of my range pretty hard...
