Recruiting question - when to stop Topic

There's a recruit I like, and I am NOT a backup option for him, but I am somewhat late to the party (didn't start on him until the 3rd cycle).

I've now dropped $5900 (DI recruiting FWIW) on the player, and he is still not considering me. He is considering 2 other schools, 1 SIM and 1 human, neither of which are threats prestige or distance wise.

How much money is enough money to say it's time to move on.

What was his response to your initial contact?

If you're not a backup option, I thought it was impossible to sign him. Right??

Need more info to answer this. What kind of recruiting efforts have you put in? (ie breakdown the $5900) Is this a key recruit for the sim and how many openings/targets does the sim have? What is your prestige relative to the other two schools. $5900 is not a lot to spend on a DI recruit.

I think he means the guy is receptive, al.

6k isn't that much to turn a guy. That's all I can say.

No, he is receptive, I keep getting the "I just don't have enough info yet". The human school was able to get on the consideration list, but FSS says he is "definitely leaning" towards playing with the SIM at this point.

Almost all of my recruiting efforts have been home visits so far, with a couple campus trips thrown in.

I'm not wondering how much to get him to sign with me, I'm just trying to get on the consideration list.

10 more home visits and a campus trip did the trick. Just under $10K to get on the list. Now the fun begins :)

homr, you know I think you are a good coach, but you have got to stop trying to get as many SG as you possibly can on your team that have no business what so ever play DI basketball. One of the SG you got last season couldn't guard the watercooler if you asked him to and the same goes for Bennett this season. Let us DII coaches put those players to actual use in DI instead of being abused by better players in DI.
