No, seriously: How could you make any significant engine changes without making some players more effective and some less?

Test world DI 3 pt shooting leaders
School 3Pt%
1 Xavier 55.5
2 Washington St. 52
3 Connecticut 51.6
4 Minnesota 51.3
5 BYU 50.9
6 Texas 50
7 Oral Roberts 49
8 Rice 48.5
9 Brown 48.5
10 Boston College 48

Naismith DI 3pt shooting leaders
School 3Pt%
1 Morehead St. 46.2
2 Oregon 44.1
3 Binghamton 43.8
4 Tennessee Tech. 43
5 Loyola (MD) 42.9
6 Temple 42.9
7 California, Riverside 42.8
8 Duquesne 42.6
9 Pennsylvania 42.2
10 Clemson 42.1

Mully, there have been a bunch of changes from those games simmed in the test world vs. the current sim. Seble told me that team 3pt % is practically the same right now in Allen that it is in Knight.

agreed that overall FG% is high as well.

But remember that the current players are generally better than what we're going to see on our rosters in a couple seasons. I think it may be a rare team that can trot out multiple guys with 90+ PER/ATH/SPD after the current players are gone.

Does that mean offensive effectiveness will drop as ratings decrease, or will they remain constant as the defenses also see a drop? One thing we never saw in the test world were entire teams of new recruits after 4 seasons.

How did this message get lost. I'll repeat what iggy said these results are with players who are from the old sim engine/recruit game.

The new recruits haven't played a single game yet. They were generated after recruiting in each world as this new release rolls out.

It will be 4 or more seasons till all current players get purged. Please be patient.

Not only that, but let's not overlook the extremely significant factor that big men were useless offensively in the old engine and you'd often see good ones shooting 38-44% for an entire season. So if just that glitch was fixed, that would bring fg% up and change #'s.

daalter - the 3PT results in Smith world are even more ridiculous than the test world. I just didnt want to post them because we are only 2 games into the seasown and its too early to tell.

But I do not have a warm cozy feeling that they will come down to normal levels.

My question on that is" GIven how many people I say under the old engine running minus defenses, if they are still doing so, and the minus is having a greater effect on boosting threes. .is that effecting the numbers?

again, what was wrong with the previous engine other than the press which I could deal with?

I guess I'm in the camp that feels like it's a crapshoot right now. Especially the whole improved matchup defense. Nearly every game I've played with the new engine has had some pretty wierd outcomes regarding dominate players getting owned by some pretty poor ones. Not that that shouldn't happen and didn't, but when you hear that it should be better, you expect less of it. And it certainly doesn't seem like ath and spd have much to do with anything, unless it's the IQ's that they just tweaked throwing things off. I don't know.
