So I was curious on the best way to use my prospect payroll. I have 15 million set aside for it, and was wondering if a really awesome international prospect pops up on my radar, show I blow most or all of it to sign him before the amateur draft? Or should I keep some in reserve and go for a more balanced approach? I have the first pick in the draft, but it's still a good ways off. Thanks!

In general, I would hold off on any IFA signings until AFTER the Amateur draft. You'd hate to pass up an opportunity at signing a stud pitcher asking for $6 Million because you've already spent all your money on a better than average RP. Trust me, there will be some pretty good IFA's even after the draft.

dafood - take a look at the history of IFA signings in your world to get a sense of how many impact players were discovered per year and what they went for.

In your current situation I would agree with benny. Looking forward I would suggest that $15M might be a difficult prospect payroll amount. In the worlds I play in, after signing your 1st and 2nd round picks the amount over ($10-$11M?) would be lucky to net a major league regular in IFA, more likely a decent role player.
