I know he's no star, but 66-131? He pitches in the AL in Security Service Field(1,0,1,-1,-2). 5.18 ERA but OBA, OOBP, & OSLG are respectable. Almost 10% of the runs scored against him are unearned. His top 3 pitches are 97,75,70 with control of 59 & GB/FB 78. Is it just that he has been pitching for a bad team(last 4 seasons wins, 69,59,58,68)? How much would playing for a better team affect this guy or will he be mediocre no matter what?

An ERA in the 5's is pretty much exactly what I'd expect from him. His pitches are the only thing that save him from being totally worthless. Bad control and mediocre splits will never produce a very good pitcher. Also, if a guy's career opponents' OPS is nearly .800, I would say that's a far cry from respectable.

You're right. I just check my SPs OPS and the are all mid to low .700s.
