Overcorrection - 3 PT% Topic

It seems like 3 pt % has gone way too far in the other direction. In Tark Big East, every team struggled the last 2 days to make any 3s. Another tweak coming?

i picked one game at random to look at

pittsburgh shot 12-25 against a +2 and cincinnati 9-18 against a 0

Gtown 4-22 versus +1; Rutgers 12-33 versus plus 2.

35% against a +2 is too low? when you're shooting 33 treys a game?

In our CC I brokedown the entire conference's performance in the 2 games since the tweak. In total there were 8 games, in 5 of the games the two teams combined to shoot under 30%, only 1 game had a team shoot over 37%, and that was that Pittsburgh/Cincy game you mentioned pinkeye. In the 2 games since the tweak the BE teams in Tark have combined to shoot 31% from 3, before the tweak every team shot over 35% for the season.

uconn has shot over 40% in their last 2 games

Uconn has only played 1 game since the tweak and they only attempted 7 threes.

What do real teams shoot? That should be relevant too right?

I just looked it up:
The average for Division-1 for the 2009-2010 season is 34.27%

if we're excluding teams that arent shooting enough 3s we also have to exclude the 4-5 teams shooting ridiculous amounts of them

The best 3 point shooting team of 2009/2010 was 42.9% (Cornell), worst was 24.8% (Winthrop).

Before someone complains ... I am not saying the tweak is too much or not enough. I am putting up real info as a comparison. Then we can see what we think.

The majority of teams were in the 32%-37% for the season.

My team has 3 very good shooters and another who is no slouch. We were shooting 55% before the correction. Obviously too high, however, since the correction we are shooting 11/48 which is just under 23%. Against a +5 we shot 5/15 which is understandable. Against a +3 we shot 2/10 which could also happen as these were decent teams we played against. However, shooting 6/23 against a 0 and a terrible Sim team (we still won by 30) is a little extreme. I also understand Ray Allen can shoot 8/10 one night and 0/8 the next so whether it was truly over corrected is still a little early to tell I suppose.

Seems balanced to me. I had a guy go 9/14 last night from downtown. I also had a team shoot 20% or so last night.
