Draft Strategy Question Topic

So I have the #1 draft pick coming up, and I'd really like to get an awesome pick. If I set it to draft very agressively, will I run the risk of not being able to sign him? I have plenty of prospect money I think, but is there ever the case where he doesn't sign no matter how much he is offered? What's the best strategy to get a great player if I'm willing to pay whatever his price is?

Some guys will not sign, not matter what.

As long as you meet their initial demands and they refuse, you'll be eligible to get a Type D pick next season in the #2 slot. So that does give you a safety net.

If you want to get the guy, don't rank anyone who says, "probably won't sign," #1. They are about 50/50 to sign if they are represented by an agent, and almost never sign (I'd say never, but I've seen one) if they are represented by their mother.

Very rarely, an "undecided" will fail to sign. I would not run away from a guy like this if he were clearly the best player in the draft.

All others will sign, eventually.
