why cant big men score aNymore? Topic

This player is averaging just under 12 a game and shooting 78%. The only reason he doesn't score more is my team is good enough that he isn't my main option so his distro isn't that high.

Big men still live, in fact this one is averaging 12 a game and shooting 65%

Except for a recent inheritance of a team that runs Motion (and an indulgent affinity for the FB), I've exclusively run Triangle. Rightly or wrongly, I do it because it seems to be the offense that offers the best classic post up opportunities. I loves me a big man posting up, getting the ball and scoring. From the "literature" and various comments, Triangle seemed the way to go.

Over the seasons, my bigs have, almost invariably, led my teams in scoring.

Now I've got one (triangle) team playing under the new engine with a 99LP Center who can't score a lick! His 47% FG shooting as a soph, has devolved into barely 41%, with the same minutes and a 2-season-higher IQ. (My 98 LP b/u/Center is at .507, but that's for less than 3 buckets a game, from a SR.)

Take away my post-up strategy, and I'm a stranger in a strange land. ((So, what's new, you say!!?))

Entering the CT my bigs actually seem to be playing a little more efficiently in the new engine. Higher FG%, fewer TOs than in the past. I had more problems under the old engine getting them to perform well vs. quality teams.

Guards/SFs still seem to dominate scoring in D3 Tark, but I wonder how much of that is because coaches are still stuck in an old engine mentality(and old engine recruits) and still have most of their distro focused there?

My PF is putting up 15.5 a game vrs the #7 SOS (will be #1 in a few games) but only shooting 48%. He had 2 pretty bad games, and with that high of a distro thats all it takes is a game or 2 or like 3-18. Last night he bounced back and went 11-11, so that helped a bit.

I sent in a ticket because I've noticed my big men NEVER try to put the ball back in after an offensive rebound. This has led to far fewer points and FT attempts from my bigs.

hmmm interesting

if true... that would go a long way toward explaining why bigmen ae not as effective as they were

oldave, the only thing I don't understand is this: big men were embarrassingly ineffective in the old engine.

mine were allways pretty good, i think. maybe my memory is fading. but i am pretty sure that all my bigs would usually shoot over 50%. the upperclassmen woud score 8-12 ppg and the younger fellas maybe 3-6 ppg, but they would all shoot over 50% as long as you didnt over-distro them, ... i think.

i guess i can look it up... maybe i will. maybe

You should definitely send in a ticket. I just don't see many tip-ins, lay-ins after the rebound or foul shots after getting the board anymore.

Just looked at my last game. 19 offensive rebounds with 3 tip attempts. (one of which went in.) The other 16 times we reset the offense. That's absolutely stupid to me.
