Firings Moratorium? Topic

I'm not in jeopardy at the moment, but was talking with a couple folks who were in jeopardy at the time when the new engine got rolled out. Now they are in the midst of a seasons where there have been adjustments on the fly, problems with 3 point shots, problems with HCA. Folks who scheduled lots of road games and then found themselves unexpectedly hurt by showers of 3 pointers and/or their inability to run their old defense in the new engine....should they be fired?

one answer is tough, we all faced these uncertainties

another answer is just to put a one season hold on firings so we dont lose teams/coaches as a result of the effects of the engine change......folks who thought they were ready to recover but were stymied but unintended effects of the new engine may well be peeved if they get tossed

Speaking from experience, it takes a lot to get fired in HD, so if you've gotten to the point where you're just one bad season away from being fired, then you should just take your medicine and get canned, because you've sucked for long enough to deserve it anyway.

Twice I have been in a season where I got the warning email from the AD to either improve dramatically or hit the road. Both times I managed to sneek my team into the NT. It is a tough call but I have to agree with mniven that getting yourself into that situation in the first place is the real problem and the rain falls on everyone equally.

If the firing moratorium covers everyone save swamphawk22, I'm all for it.

I really think that everybody deserves at least one firing free season with the new engine.

I'd have to imagine this is his last Purdue season anyway.
