I am fairly new to HD, so please forgive my ignorance.  I am in D3, but have a D2 recruit considering me as well. He has about 20 more base points than a D3 that I have getting ready to sign, but his potential seems to be fairly limited.  I think the D3 guy is going to be a better player in the long run.  What makes the D2 recruit a D2 recruit??

Go for the guy you think is better... Not every recruit in D2 is better then D3. Overall ratings get inflated by Durability, Stamina, Work Ethic, useless ratings, etc. which can result in some very bad recruits being D2 or D1 recruits.

Thanks.  I ended up taking them both.  It will be interesting to see how they develop and if my initial assessments were correct.
