Defensive Ratings /Position Question Topic

Does it affect a player at all if you move them around defensively? If i take a solid RF and move him into play 3b? does that affect him in any way?

I don't think so...I think it is one of the HBD weaknesses, that you can move a guy into a position the've never played and yet they can still be a terrific fielder there because of the numbers.  Willie Mays would have struggled for a while at 2B, even though he was a tremendous CF. Or, if you look at today's players, Franklin Gutierrez may be the best CF in the game....But I'll guarantee he would struggle at 2B for a while.  I would like to see HBD work in a system where a player must play a position for a minimum number of games in the minors before they can excel at it in the majors.

What about prospect?  I had read somewhere young players defensive ratings will improve at different rates depending on where they play in the field.
