In Tark recruiting, it seems that a lot of the recuits (DI) have red (or low) potential in most categories.  Are we (Big East Tark) the only ones seeing this?  I thought the point was to have lower starting ratings and more potential to allow coaches to "groom" players the way they wanted.

I am also in the Big east and Tark, but I am also seeing this. I am currently recruiting 3 players ranked #2 at their positions (SF, SG, and PF) and combined they have high potential in 3 categories and low potential in 14 categories. I likely would not have recruited any of them under the old engine based on where their ratins will likely end up.

I like it... players are gonna look a lot different in 4 seasons and I think thats a good thing.

You like that the highest rated players have almost no room for growth?

I think this is only an issue for the highest level of the game, I think the low level, mid majors and D2 recruits have a different and better look than the old engine.

I like that we have to dig a little deeper for the high potential guys, and can't simply rely on the highest rated.  I think it more resembles reality.

It seems that the really good guys are good enough to start right now and have impact.  Those guys are all-American quality and are not going to get that much better.

Other guys are not as good initially but will grow in several areas.  That sounds realistic to me on its face.

I do not have access to FSS in a world generated by the new engine right now, so I can not see potentials for a couple weeks.

First off the top level guys arent good enough (relative to the players in the old engine that they will be competing with) to make immediate impacts. They are all dramatically worse than the recruits of prior years.

Second, Its not that just the highly ranked players have low potential, its that ALL recruits who would be considred by a BCS level school have crappy potential.

Supposedly the whole point of the new recruit generation was to have players who were more varied, but it is impossible to have that when all the recruits have low potential.

I dont see what the problem is. Your looking at this as if these players are always going to be playing against old engine guys. In 4 seasons the best recruits will be able to be great from day one and there will be other recruits with good potential who can become stars in the future.
