brrexkl, was that directed at me or the OP?

Anyone making this attempt could answer. Just looking to find what kind of stick those savings could add to the roster, or how many Quality Sticks.

Thanks!

Season 11 batting totals. Pitchers in bold.

254 pitcher PA out of 6126 total PA, for a total of 4.14% of PA wasted on pitchers.

Pinch hitters (including 2 for 11 from pitchers) went 77 for 343, for a batting average of only .225 (walks seem to be lost in the stats somewhere).

Pitchers, on the other hand,  went a combined 38 for 244, with 10 walks, for a batting average of only .156.  At that same average, they would have gotten 53 hits in 343 pinch hit AB.

So 24 extra hits in 343 ABs?  And i'm guessing a few extra walks and some better baserunning?

Seems like you'd need some better to pinch hitters to pull this off effectively...
Better slugging too, and the numbers are skewed somewhat by two of my pitchers hitting over .300 in limited AB, but yea, if I had decent PH options (I don't, my overall team offense is anemic) it would be worth quite a bit more.

DH/no field catcher types aren't extraordinarily tough to come by, it seems like with time and the right bench this could be a viable strategy...

great work zbrent

I fear it's been made much more difficult by the recent update.

In using a shotgun to swat a fly by making the minimum PC for SP 40, Admin has potentially made running a 2-man rotation of ~1-2 IP per start a thing of the past. You could do it with 3 or 4 men, but then you lose those roster spots for bullpen pitchers and/or extra quality pinch-hitters.

good zbrent, maybe they're trying to stop your ultimate strategy before it gets off the ground

Not according to the ticket exchange I had with them. They called the strategy a "creative solution" and said they loved it.

They just didn't love it enough to both to write some sort of code/program that could kill the 5 PC LH SP (from the ticket: "What we don't want to see is a user intentionally setting a 1A to throw 5 pitches and then have a completely different match-up for the entire game while his opponent is left wondering why he just got screwed over") without also taking out the "creative solution" as well.
