With the new engine...Is there still a position penalty for moving over 2 positions..ex sg at pf.. looking over next years recruiting and see a 40+ sg rebounder with lp skills

No, there is no penalty now.

Are you sure about that? I don't check the forums every day, but that is the 1st I have heard of their now being no penalty?

Yes, seble said there was no longer any position penalty in the interview on may 4th. Its about 3/4 the way down the page.

thanks Rockafella.. here is the chat log

hear on the forum that there will be NO position penalty after the changes - is this true? (metsmax - Hall of Famer - 12:59 PM)

There is currently no position penalty, so a player's performance depends solely on his ratings. If that causes any problems I reserve the right to reinstate that penalty, but I'd rather not have to do that.

Since there is no player position penalty, if a shooting gaurd is set to play the pf position will he still play out on the perimeter like a gaurd should or will he be placed in the post like a post player. (vamrbball - Rookie - 2:35 PM)

Generally anyone playing that position would play inside. On defense he would certainly be inside more

Do you guys think this PG has what it takes to play SF? He can't rebound and he doesn't have a low-post game, but can his other skills work there?

dude's not good enough to play anywhere else...why not, if you really HAVE to play him.

His offensive catergories are bad and his d is not that good, but as starting PG he (somehow) was my leading scorer. i went 20-9, was top 50 RPI, and made the tourney so he can't be all rubbish, can he? honestly, i'm a newbie so that question isn't rhetorical. i was thinking of keeping him in the starting lineup at SF, but after you said that, i'm wondering if i'm naive.

I'd start Chupp, but I always get these wrong...

next year, i'll definitely start chupp. whether it's at SF or PF is the question. thanks for your advice.

Go by performance more than ratings.  Some guys are just for whatever reason.  No sense starting anyone over him just because they theoretically should be better.  If he's better on the pretend court, then keep him on the pretend court  :p
