What is the difference between the player payroll and prospect payroll for new acquisitions? Are draft picks signed with the prospect payroll? How about international players? Free agents? How much leeway in the player payroll should be left after paying the current salaries?

Prospect payroll covers only the bonuses for drafted players and international free agents. Those players will have a nominal salary once signed that comes from your player payroll.

All other free agents are paid from your player payroll, including any bonuses you might give them.

It's always good to leave yourself about $2 million in extra payroll to cover unforeseen additions and promotions. You may want to leave more if you anticipate making a midseason deal.

This is the one part of the game I get constantly get caught out with, im forever having to add from prospect payrol or move a player I probably shouldnt have resigned. Must do better on the report card.
