The disparity gets pretty ridiculous, as was recorded in other threads. Some teams shooting 45 FTAs to 0 for their opponent and such. Games with 80+ FTAs, etc.
But FTA/game is meaningless because you're not factoring for tempo. FTA per FGA is a much better measure and you can find it for NCAA teams at Ken Pomeroy's website (kenpom.com).
The official CS response to the ridiculously high FTA rate has been that it's a result of coaches still trying to run the press with inadequate players in the new engine and that it would go away once coaches adjusted. And, as always, "we're monitoring it."
