I made the mistake of signing the walkons last season and had to cut them. With very limited recruiting cash, I ended up only signing 1 player and take on 4 walkons.

Well the one recruit you got last season has good prospects and if you go for more players like him, you'll be decent. I like to help rebuilding teams so if you have any questions Id love to help once recruiting comes.     

I really was cash strapped as I had only cash for 2 recruits trying to fill 5 spots. Ended up only landing 1 recruit. Whats the typical battle range for Div 3 in HD, and what is the minimum effort needed to sign a guy? GD is simply an ac scout near end of recruiting period, if no other coach is involved. obviously that's not the case here.

Well at DIII, I typically didn't see many battles. Maybe one recruit, possibly 2 depending on the class size. But if you strike first you get an advantage.

Also, if you offer a schollie, 1 home visit, and some phone calls then you can easily get the recruit if there are not other teams interested.
