My SS in world WIB made the All-Star team this year.  He is the worst All-Star I have ever seen in this game and it's not even close.  These stats are from just a few games after the all star break.  How does this happen?  He is a very good fielder so I have to imagine that is the reason but this is ridiculous.

-Last among all SS's in the NL in OPS.
-2nd to last among all SS's in the entire MLB in OPS.
-Towards the bottom of the NL in range factor but he does have 12+ plays and 0 - plays.
-8th in the NL in assists among SS's.

Defense. 

The All-Star and MVP selection engines place a very heavy emphasis on defense.  Sometimes, a little too much.

It's not  a bad thing in the main Defensive positions like SS.. That is a spot where most people don't have a great bat... However 1B/LF is another story ...

even so.....

this guys offensive stats suck (last among all SS's in the NL) and while he is a good fielder he is not even leading the league in the fielding stats either..

I hate the over-emphasis on fielding for All-Star selections.  It's quite unrealistic, and somehow they feel that 12 + plays outweigh 12 HR.  Which they don't.

i could see it for a ss. omar vizquel and ozzie smith were very popular players because they were wizards with the leather.
