Seble's Development Blog (top of page) Topic

This may be superfluous, but since it's at the top of the page and it's locked, I'm guessing a lot of people may not notice additions to seble's blog, which I think is a great step by him and potentially quite valuable:

"The rankings change mentioned above is nearly complete, just doing some final testing. The perfect test case was the unexpected championship run for Rhode Island in Iba. They ended the season unranked, even after winning it all. After this change, they will finish ranked #1. This will filter down to teams that advance in each round of the tournament, so for example a 12 seed that makes a run to the Sweet 16 or Elite 8 would see a nice bump to their ranking. I will likely release this change tomorrow.

I was hoping to get a clearer picture of the areas that need attention next from the survey, but the vote seems pretty split. There's a pretty even number wanting me to improve the job process, prestige, postseason seeding, and user interface. I'm not sure what order those items will be targeted, but those were the areas I planned to address anyway. I'm leaning toward postseason seeding first since that was supposed to be part of the May release anyway.

Before I start any of those I'm going to take a look at several of the concerns with the engine, including rebounding and fouls."

User interface?  What?

Personally, I really hope that main efforts are focused on the engine.

Something like postseason seeding is quite minor -- the current system works pretty well, and quite honestly, I can't imagine it ever being perfect. (Not a knock on seble, just incredibly difficult to fine tune, and something I might think is better someone else might think is worse.) To me, it's a back burner issue.

What I'd really, really, really like to see him work on is the jobs process and prestige. Those are much more integral to the game, and much more flawed. Shouldn't those be the two main criteria for identifying the next fixes -- what's most integral to the game, and what really is in need of the most work? Hope so!

Thanks, seble, for the blog and keeping us updated.

I'd argue that tweaking recruit generation a little would be slightly more important than prestige/jobs.  I think that creating the additonal depth for low-mid DI recruits (or increasing potential for recruits in the 40-90 range) takes a little higher priority to keep those coaches from getting buried and not being able to compete.

Right behind that would be prestige and jobs.

Oh, I totally agree.

I was just referring to the list that seble put out there and what I thought was clearly the most significant on the list.

No question in my mind that fixing up recruit generation is more important than anything on that list.

Was recruit generation even an option on the survey? I don't remember seeing it.

yeah it was the 2nd page

But it wasn't in the "what should be a priority" list.
