I disagree completely about Gonzaga's HD prestige. According to scout.com, gonzaga has signed 0 5stars and 6 4 stars in the last 8 years. With an A- prestige you could recruit MUCH better then that. I would give Gonzaga a B.
There are many reasons why a school like Gonzaga (or Xavier or Butler) wouldn't be the best fit for certain 4 or 5 star guys.  I don't think that mitigates the success they have on the court and the national profile they've built for themselves from scratch.  To me, that's the pure definition of prestige, but I respect your position.
i agree that to the public they might be an A- prestige... however the only thing prestige is used for in HD is recruiting and Gonzaga's recruiting prestige in real life is probably around a B

tark did have probably its most firings ever in 1 season.    not sure if the logic was updated or it is pure coincidence ?.

I still feel a few other coaches should have been fired.  Quite a few BCS schools haven't made even 1 NT appearance in 5-6 seasons already . it seems like armPIT wins are saving them which wouldn't happen in real life (meaning job security).

I wonder whether the recent Tark experience is

1. finger on the scale toward more firings?

2. maturity of the world as folks now have had long runs at BCS shools?

3.  a different side effect of the new engine, where folks who had struggled some got hit by further whack of the engine change - say someone had planned to try to recover by putting in a press, suffered a couple bad seasons as he worked the roster and the IQs in that direction and THEN the engine change made that a bad or less good idea.....if a new engine comes along at the wrong time it can add a down year or two....

Not to derail the thread, but as a UI alumn, I enjoy the love the Illini get in game with good coaches and on these boards. But I can tell you I really have a hard time seeing them as an elite school with all two of their FF'S in 20 yrs and no championships. In fact, I think of them as a more prestigious version of Tulsa, where good coaches hone their chops before skipping to the "real" prestige jobs. Ie. Self to kansas, Kruger to NBA.... I'll keep my opinions on our current coach to myself.
