I am interested in trading for a guy who will not negotiate a LT deal with his current team having gone to arb 3 times.  If I pick him up, will he consider a long term deal with me?

i thought the deal was: a guy won't re-sign with a team that takes him to arb 3 times and BEATS HIM. once he's on a new team it's a clean slate cause they're not the ones who screwed him over

Yeah I believe that is the deal. I'm sure a lot of it still depends on the quality of the player, though. If he's an 80 overall or above I'd bet he'll want to test free agency no matter what.

Thanks guys, I wont find out because he has a no trade clause that he has exercised.

How does that make sense?  If he has just been arb'd 3 times, he has not yet gotten a normal contract, so no chance for a no trade clause there. If he just completed his 3rd arb, there is no way for him to be a 5/10 guy.  This does not compute.

i know that a guy will negotiate LT with his new team post-trade after he wouldn't sign with his original team because it happened to me.  don't know the frequency of it but it definitely is a possibility.
