Budgeting between coaching and training Topic

I'm wondering if training is more important then coaching in the advancement of players.  I know coaching helps but is training worth more? Lets say I have 30 mill to spend on these two departments would i rather split 15 in each category or put 19 mill into training and 11 in coaching?

depends on the league.  if no one has a higher coach budget than $12M, and you have $14M, you'll be in good shape assuming you all have similar returning coaches.  if you look at my teams going back however many seasons, you can see how much value i place on training personally (note that i took over CHI mid-season two years ago), but it also depends on the health ratings of your players and the kind of development they need (skill/blue ratings versus strength/yellow ratings).

I'm pretty sure Training has no impact on advancement of players

Training helps prevent injuries, and helps keep older players from declining in certain categories. I think it does nothing for advancement of players (other than helping prevent a ratings hit that would come with an injury)

That said, I always keep a high training budget because I tend to have a lot of veterans on my teams

You can find bargains in coaching, but training is directly tied to what you spend. I never spend less than $18 million on training, and rarely more than $12 million on coaches.

I'm not convinced that training has no impact.   Taking over a team and only getting 14m seems to retard the growth of prospects.  I've had players improve as much in S3 as S2 after going from 14m to 18m.

Isnt it in the rule book that training does in fact help with power ratings and stuff like that? I thought i read that

From my ticket response regarding the issue:
"Kasey,

It plays a role and it is described in the following knowledge base article.

Still a little vague on just what it does and to what scale, but CS at least THINKS that it affects player development.

In most cases, it seems that training is more important than coaching.  And like someone else said, you can get better deals with coaching usually, so it may not be necessary to "waste" extra millions on something that you can get for less anyway.  I haven't been around long enough to know as much about these things as some of the vets who have commented already, but in my experience, it always seems like I don't have to spend as much in coaching to still get a great group of them.
Like the name.

I always go 20M in training for both the possible increase to development and the minimization of injuries. For coaching, the only coach out there for which you would possibly have to get in a bidding war is a fielding instructor, that is the determining factor for me in my coaching budget. If I've got a decent one returning, my budget is anywhere between 9M and 11M. I can't imagine it is worth the extra millions required to land a 90+ hitting or pitching coach versus one of the many 80 something guys.

Yeah, the potential for extra development, the prevention of decline, and the prevention of injuries make training incredibly important.  I think it would be more balanced if medical dealt with the prevention of injuries.  As it stands now, training is just massively important.  So important that nearly everyone goes to 20m or close to it.

Training is tied into rating increases as well as the prevention of injuries. The amount you have in medical is the determining factor whether it is a major/minor(i believe) as well as how long the player will be out. Have $20mil and you'll see him sit out close to the minimium amount of games, have $0 and he'll be out for closer to the max.
