I was wondering if anyone knows what are the best match-ups for defense vs offense & offense vs defense? I have an idea of what they are but I thought I would run them by all of you and see what you thought.

The best defenses to run against certain offenses.

1. Man to Man or Halfcourt Press/Man to Man Vs Fastbreak
2. 2-3 Zone or Halfcourt Press/2-3 Zone Vs Motion
3. 3-2 Zone or Halfcourt Press/3-2 Zone Vs Flex
4. Fullcourt Press Vs Triangle

I think that you're very mistaken in thinking it works this way.

What cornfused said. You can't try to match up a specific defense vs a specific offense. There's no magic formula for playing against motion, for example. You have to have favorable individual matchups, and set the right rotation and the right team positioning.

Any offense can be successful against any defense, and vice versa, but you have to have the right players in place.  Obviously.

I've actually won titles running all 3 offenses (never had a FB team), and have won running all 3 defenses.  It's really all about the players and matchups.  I've had the most success with Triangle/M2M, but that's more the way I recruit as opposed to saying that these are better O's and D's than the others.

??. . . . I understand what you are sayn' but in real life as in real basketball there are certain defense's that work better against certain offense's & vice versa.  Just a fact.  So...?...  But this is HD and I understand it's not programed that way.

You definitely can approach different defenses in different ways; It's more about your players and gameplan vs. certain defenses, not your offensive set. Same with defenses. In your list, you seem to assume that a flex team will shoot a lot of threes. But you may play zone and encounter a flex team that pounds it inside.

To be honest, the original question is kind of moot anyway, because practice plans are really set up so that becoming proficient in more than one offense is a really bad use of practice minutes.

Bottom line: You can't take preconceived notion of real life into HD. You just have to figure out what works best and is most successful for you here.
