Should I try SimLeague baseball? Topic

I haven't played SLB in a few years - but that is what first got me to this site in 2001.  I joined wanting something like HBD, so when this came along I moved over and quit playing SLB altogether.  What I loved about it though was the theme leagues - my favorite being where you choose one franchise and then choose one player from each of the last 25 years.  Like MikeT was saying, you end up finding hidden gems that you never even knew about.

I basically joined for the same reasons as bigal, and as Mike T. indicated half the fun is finding out about those players who played 100 years ago.  Babe Ruth is a favourite of mine, so I would sometimes build a team around him, where I had him pitching, and yes he was a pitcher at the start of his career.  And then I would have him in the outfield.  So I would have 3 Babe Ruth's on my team, and when he was pitching 3 times in the batting order.  Deadly team with all 3 in the line up.  I have been debating about picking up another team, just to try it out again, haven't played in a few years now that I switched over to HBD, but it was a lot of fun.

If you do a simLeague make sure it is a Progressive.  They are quite fun...and you often get forced into a "this year or down the line" type of draft choice.  I have one WS championship and also won the TOC with that team.  I'm out of other SimLeagues (the single season stuff became pretty blase, except the lower cap leagues), but I hang on to this team.....Started in '4...just heading into '54 draft.  I happened to win the lottery for the first pick in 54. let's see:  Hank Aaron or Ernie Banks or Al Kaline?  Huh?  I think it will be "The Hammer."
