THE OFF-SEASON
Following the conclusion of each post-season, the four teams with the worst cumulative records through that point will be eliminated. Tie-breakers for teams facing Contraction will be as follows:
First-year: If two or more teams finish tied for the 4th and 5th worst records in the league in Season One, head to head will be used as the first tie-breaker (better record survives). In the case of a 3-way or 4-way tie, with all teams having faced one another, the team(s) with the lowest winning percentage in the common games will be eliminated. The second tie-breaker will be a teams' home record (better record survives). The third tie-breaker will be Expected win percentage (higher pct survives).
Second year and beyond: If two or more teams are tied with the least number of cumulative wins to that point, with at least one having to be eliminated, the team(s) with more total wins in the most recent season will survive. If still tied, the team that had more regular-season wins in the previous year will survive (and so forth, until forced to revert to the three tie-breakers listed above).

CONTRACTION DRAFT
Following the elimination of the four weakest teams, a 2-Round Contraction Draft will take place. The draft pool will consist only of players from the four contracted teams (minus the Rookies and Old Timers that were already used by them). As always, any player-seasons that were already used for a Veteran will be ineligible.
The draft order for the 1st round will be determined by most wins during the previous season (post-season wins will be added to your regular season win total for the purpose of determining the 1st round draft order). The winner of the World Series will automatically receive the first pick of the draft. The rest of the 1st round order will be determined by most total wins in the recently completed season.
The order for the 2nd round will be determined by the cumulative standings. The remaining team with the worst overall record will have the first pick of the 2nd round, and so on, with the team that has the best overall record through that point drafting last.
Any players not drafted in the Two Rounds will be blacklisted from the league going forward.
When drafting a player, you must blacklist one of your own players. This player must belong to the same group as the player you just drafted (ex. If you draft a Veteran, you must blacklist one of your own Veterans, if you draft a Rookie, you must blacklist one of your own remaining Rookies, etc.).
You will be allowed to trade picks/players during the draft, but the trading of future draft picks will not be allowed. You may also decide to pass on your selection if you wish (if you don’t want to blacklist one of your own players).
Tie-breakers for determining draft order:
Season One:Head to head will be used as the first tie-breaker (better record gets the better pick in both rounds). In the case of a 3-way or 4-way tie, the team(s) with the highest winning percentage in common games will get the higher pick in both rounds. The second tie-breaker will be a teams' home record (better record, better picks). The third tie-breaker will be Expected Win Percentage (higher pct, higher pick).
1st Round - Season Two and beyond:If two teams finish a season with the same amount of wins (including post-season wins), the team with the better cumulative record through that point will get the higher pick.If still tied, the team that had more wins in the previous regular-season will get the higher pick, and so on, until forced to revert to the regular tie-breakers.Only post-season wins from the most recent season will be counted, any playoff wins from previous seasons are no longer added to a team’s total.
2nd Round –Season Two and beyond:If two teams finish a season with the same amount of cumulative wins (including post-season victories from the most recently completed season), the team that had more total wins in the most recent year will get the higher pick.If still tied, the team that had more wins in the previous season will get the higher pick, and so on, until forced to revert to the regular tie-breakers.

ALIGNMENT
The league will be randomly aligned for the first year. After that, the league will re-align before each and every season depending on the cumulative team records to that point.
1. The American League will be the A-league, while the National League will be the B-league (think of the European Soccer divisions).
2. After each season, all remaining teams will be seeded first thru last based on cumulative wins through that point. For the following season, the AL will be made up of all the highest seeds (the exact number of AL teams will depend on that season's configuration), while the NL will be filled by the remaining bottom seeds, forced to fight for their survival. The two groups of teams will be distributed evenly amongst their divisions by using snake-style dispersal.
For example, Season Two will be aligned as follows:
Season Two - 24 teams: The 12 AL Teams will consist of the 12 teams that had the best record in Season 1, while the 12 NL teams will consist of teams seeded 13th thru 24th. Divisions would be balanced by seed. Using the 4/4/4 breakdown, the AL East Division will house Seeds # 1, #6, #7, and #12; the AL Central Division will be made up of Seeds #2, #5, #8, and #11; while the AL West Division would have Seeds #3, #4, #9, #10. The same will be done for the NL (East: #13, #18, #19, #24; Central: #14, #17, #20, #23; West: #15, #16, #21, #22).
This system will not be used for the Championship Season (Season Five). The remaining 12 teams will simply be aligned snake-style based on seed. The AL will have seeds #1, #4, #5, #8, #9 and #12. The NL will have seeds #2, #3, #6, #7, #10 and #11. The DH will be used by the ENTIRE league.
LOOSE ENDS
There is the very real possibility that I, as both owner and commissioner, may be eliminated from the league at some point. In that case, the remaining owner with the highest Owner Rating will have first rights at taking over commissioner duties (along with the free team). If that owner refuses, the owner with the next highest rating will have the choice, and so on, until an owner accepts.
I am finalizing the complete Player Pool on an excel spreadsheet. It lists the five best available seasons (in terms of salary) for every Veteran, and it lists the best available season for each of the Rookies and Old Timers. Send me a site-mail if you’d like me to email the spreadsheet to you.
AND THEN THERE WAS ONE...
The Champion of "The Eliminator II - 80's Edition" will be the owner that captures the World Series crown in Season Five - The Championship Season.
Nothing else matters, not cumulative wins, not prior World Series' victories, nothing. It's all about the end game. Of course, first you have to get there. Cumulative wins keep you alive, while World Series wins boost your odds, but it all means nothing if you can't win The Big One. The Champion will receive every penny that admin throws our way.
