So the best hitter on my team is done for the season for the second straight year. This time, however, he is set to return sometime around the first round of playoffs (assuming I make it of course). If I put him on the 60-day DL, will I be able to activate him and then use him for a playoff run?

turns out that this isn't exactly true. my guy was activated from the DL for the last series of the season, played in the final three games but now doesn't show up on my lineup page for the playoffs.

i have a ticket sent in to see if this is an error or not since i dont know for sure either way. just wanted to give a heads up to whomever might have read this.

You have to add him to the playoff roster.
