If you don't plan on moving for a while after taking a job, a Loyalty hit is meaningless.

mmt, I agree with you on a philosophical level. But on a practical level, I think you're getting to caught up in the comments from Simmy rather than just looking at the reality of the situation. Taking a "step backward" really isn't a big deal. If you feel that your moving into a better situation and prefer the new job, that's really all that matters. (The only exception, as anton notes, would be if you planned on moving again right away, in which case I don't know why you're leaving in the first place and deserve a loyalty hit.)

So yes, I agree that the set-up and Simmy comments could/should certainly be better, but in practical application I think it makes little to no difference.

Anton - And if you do plan to move it is not.

Daalt - In instances where you build a midmajor to the A or A- range and end up taking an Elite which is currently at a B+ or B range you are right. In all other instances you are not.  For example if I took a loyalty hit to go from CSU Fullerton to Wisconsin but then I couldnt get the Kansas job after 1 or 2 seasons there is something wrong as each jump would be an upgrade; If to reenter a world I have to go from a Big 6 which had reasonable success to a midmajor because its my only option AND in addition I take a loyalty hit; its a problem and a big one at that.

It is not possible that a person isnt qualified for a single job without a loyalty hit as consistently as it occurs in WIS; it is even more illogical when it occurs under scenario #2 above.
