Crazy Turnover League Topic

Just a silly idea, what about a league where any team that finishes under .500 fires its owner?    Most owners wouldnt last for long but that would be the point.  Stick around for five seasons and you would have some bragging rights.  You would see lots of big contracts, trading and crazy moves.    Not for the faint of heart.

It would have to be private to enforce those rules.  I dont know that WIS (or anyone else) would be into a league with about 50% turn over every season.  But it would be unique.

The problem is that the bad teams will never get better as people will just load them with big bad contracts in order to survive. You will have 10-12 teams that stick around for a long time and the rest will be filled with trash.

how about instead a league where every team that makes the playoffs has to leave at the end of the season? Call it Tankers R Us.

Or better yet, a league where all playoff teams have to leave the league EXCEPT the World Series winner. Basically the league becomes a tank fest, until the playoffs when the teams unlucky enough to make it are forced to actually have to try to win in order to stay in the league. Talk about game theory. What do you do? Build a great team and hope it's the only good one so you win the WS every year? But what happens if a freak series causes you to bow out of the playoffs early? Do you try to tank knowing that the rest of the league is doing it too? I would actually love to join this world.

I thought a good move would be to remove the worst team every season.  It either encourages owners to all win or becomes a game of chicken.

I mentioned in MG last year that I'd like to have 35-36 committed owners.   Bottom 3 or 4 always lose their team.  But they get to come back after a season off to take another bottom 3-4 team.

One other thought I'd have is creating a "World" with a relegation sort of system.  Have say, 5 instances of a world that play in tiers.  The top tier changes 8 teams with the tier below it.  Or maybe even more.

It'd allow competition across a broader scale of people.
