Have never redshirted in HD, as I have never had a talented team until now.  Do Freshman accept redshirt willingly, or do you get resentment if you have not told them during recruiting?

It depends on the player and your roster. If you are trying to RS say a SF and have only 1 other SF on your roster I have found the player will be less likely to accept it willingly. However, if you have 2 other SF's already on your roster the player would be more likely to take it but its still not guaranteed.

It varies from player to player. Some will accept it willingly, some will drop 20 pts in WE and some will fall to 1 WE.

If he doesn' t accept the RS, take it off and reapply. It has worked for me and hughesjr in getting the player to accept the RS w/o losing any WE.

it is very random.  just because you have other players in front of them does not make it automatic.  last season in knight i tried to redshirt a FR (Lally) (no promises) with 3 other players in front of him on the depth chart, and he refused twice.
