Catcher with 0 range. Can he play the field? Topic

I am trying to put a value on a player. He has a nice bat but a 0 in fielding range. I play in the NL so I cant DH him. I don't want to dump him with low value as a DH. And then find out later half the teams in the league would play him in the field. Any input would be great. Thanks

The 19 glove is more cause for concern than the 0 range.  He'll have some passed balls, his pitch calling is barely passable and his arm strength is well below recs.  I'm not sure those hitting ratings would justify playing him in the field.

Yeah, he looks to be more of a nice PH in NL for you late in the game and a backup catcher.

I could care less about range or glove, 51 PC would stop me from playing him though.

his bat isn't good enough to make up for those deficiencies in the field.

It all depends on your other options.  I wouldn't care less about range/glove.   That's about the last thing I'd worry about with a C.     His arm and PC are cause for concern.   But, if you don't have better options, I'd say "I've used worse".

I'd think he wouldn't hurt you that much at catcher.

51 PC is actually 1 point above the recs.

But for an average PC catcher, I like to see a really good arm or a really good bat.  He's not wow-ing me in either category.

Solid bench player, tho.
