Resigning a type A Topic

Guys I know that when HBD was starting you had no chance of signing a high rated type A before the season.

I just offered to trade for a 91 rated SP and want to make sure i'm not screwing up.

He will resign this season right? He just won't resign next season when he's a free agent. Is that correct?

If he won't extend this season then I have no use for him. I know he's going to cost a fortune either way.

If the owner is trading him, it's unlikely that he's willing to resign.

I offered the trade. It's one day before the deadline. It looks to me like the owner doesn't have the funds to resign him. It looks like it would violate his future seasons, but I could be wrong.

No, the days when you could always re-sign a free agent as long as you extended him before the end the last season of the contract have been over for a while - a guy rated that highly is unlikely to be willing to re-sign without going on the open market.

OK that's what I needed to know. You probably just saved my rear. Thank you.

Here is what I did. I ammended the offer. I was going to offer two prospects (77 and 78 OVR) and a veteran starting pitcher (73 OVR).

The reason I need this deal is because I have the best record in the league through 101 games but don't have that stud #1 that you have to have in the playoffs.

Now I sent a trade chat to plead my case. No way would this guy end up with a 77 and 78 OVR for his 1 or 2 comp picks. At best the pick would be 17th. At worst it could be a comp pick and 2nd rounder.

So it all boils down to him. I'm selling the farm to try to win the series, and then I will worry about the carnage if he doesn't resign. LOL

If his patience is high enough, he's more likely to resign.  I've got an 84 rated pitcher w/ a 98 patient rating that resigned w/ his prior trade in a sign and trade to me, and is willing to resign the following season.

I know that the patience cutoff for the resigning of 80+ OVR players is either 66 or 67. I'm not sure if it is higher for 90+ guys.

That seems low. Are you sure its only 67? What about the second time around too? If you resign a Guy for 5 years will he also be willing to resign with you again when those 5 years are up?
