Which SS should play 3b? Topic

I ended up with 2 SS one rated A/A+ and the other B+/D at SS, which one should play 3B and which at SS? I was leaning toward leaving the superior defender at SS and playing the B+/D at 3B but would I be better overall to move the better D to 3B so there would be less lost because of the shift? I have a A/D- rated 3B that can come in late innings.

SS range is probably more important so I would leave the A+ guy there. nobody here knows the precise formula. If it is a fixed percentage then moving the weaker fielder may suffer a smaller penalty because you're losing a percentage of a smaller number.
A/D- might be worse than B+/D. the D- rating covers a wide spectrum and some of them are terrible.

I'd leave the A/A+ guy at short.

I would definitely leave the A/A+ guy at short and take my chances with the other guy at third.

+1

not close for me. defense matters MUCH less at 3b.

A/A+ at short no question......

Fielding penalty for moving OOP, is a percentage for both FLD% and range. X% of a lot is a bigger number than X% of a little, so even if third base was equally as important as shortstop, I'd leave the better player where he is.
