Okay, it's my understanding that if a player was called up as an injury replacement, when the injured player is removed from the DL the replacement player will not suffer a demotion penalty when sent back to AAA.
SCENARIO:
On 9/8, Guerrero is injured and placed on the 60 day DL. Dye is called up from AAA the same cycle as Guerrero is placed on the DL.
On 9/10, Tate is injured and placed on the 15 day DL. A free agent is signed to replace him.
QUESTION:
If I sent Dye down to AAA the same cycle Tate comes off the DL, would Dye be subject to a demotion penalty (since he technically replaced Guerrero and not Tate), or would he be in the clear since he's a replacement player going down the same cycle as a regular is removed from the DL?
