What does a ML year mean in game terms for arbitraion and free agency purposes - how long is it? If you have a player in the majors for only a portion of a year, how does thta count? What if you have called a player up before spring training, but decide to send him down before the season starts, does that count for any time at all?

I believe it's 172 days on a ML roster during the regular season.  Time on the ML roster during spring training or the post-season does not count.  And minor league assignments of less than 20 days count as major league service time as well.
