How much do booster gifts help If a player accepts them? Could a D2 school get a 3 star player? Also, does it matter if the player is already considering another school?

Booster gifts almost never work out positively, you might get the player, 9 times out of 10 you get caught.

zero chance a d2 gets any star player.

If a guy doesn't consider you as even a backup on an inital call, you won't have a chance even with boosters. Boosters definitely work if you're battling another school (I dont' see why you would use them in any other circumstance) but if you're a D2 battling a D1, I'd fuggedaboutit.

Even if the guy asks for a booster gift, there is still a very high chance of getting caught.  I will never do it again

D-II teams can land 1 star players.

Or at least they used to. I haven't seen it since the new recruits began, but I have seen D-II teams get higher ranked players recently than previously.

star players are still off limits.  boosters can be gotten away with but usually on a limited basis.  ANd battling a d1 school from d2 makes no difference at all with them.

they also scaled back star rankings. so, 0 chance (at least on freshman, probably for jucos too). its been a LONG time since you could sign a starred freshman, never seen one during the potential era.

I'm sure you're right. I can't remember the last time I saw a starred recruit at D-II--it may be 10-15 seasons ago in D-II Crum. I know I used to be happy to sign guys ranked 160-200 and now it's not hard to sign guys 110 -150. The problem is those guys aren't nearly as good as the 160+ guys were in the old recruit generation. I remember signing regular D-II recruits--not dropdowns--better than most of the dropdowns now.

The players are not as good, but it's all relative once the world is full of the new recruits. You always just get the best players available. Though in Rupp, I'm going to take a beating with 6 fr. and 4 soph, vs a world of old recruit jr. and sr.
