All Guard and small forward lineup? Topic

What do coaches feel about the potential of starting 5 guards/small forwards. Kind of like the 89 Fighting Illini ... a bunch of 6-5, 6-6 guys running/slashing all up and down the court.
Would they be able to be overpowered on the boards, or could their speed advantage negate the bigs a little bit.
Just curious as I am intrigued to take over a brutal progam and reshape it in this image.

I have based most of my teams on this concept of guard play.  You need superior speed and athleticism and probably go uptempo with a good bench.  However you will struggle on the boards, which means in this new engine you need to get REB. The best case scenario is to find quick and athletic PF's cause i cant seem to find guards with any decent REB ability.

I lost in a title game against a team who tried that. His best rebounder was like 72 and this is div II. I had 2 guys above 90 and another in the mid 80s. He kept the rebounding closer then I expected and ended up winning. IIRC he out rebounded his opps for the year. It really surprised me that he was able to build a team like that and win the championship even with crap rebounding.

new engine does not reward good rebounders enough
