Does anyone but me find it troubling that management doesn't care if you coach multiple teams in the same division and world?
It seems that they'd rather collect the $$$ than keep this 'business' honest. At the very least - they could match the credit card and/or address, and limit 1 team per world per coach.
A coach admitted in the coaches corner that he had another team in the same world/div. I alerted mgt to this and their response was if they are in different parts of the country - they must be playing legal, especially if they admitted it.
They're making it more difficult for me to talk myself into buying more seasons.
I agree there could be some issues with it... and while your solution with the credit card info sounds simple on the surface, it'd probably wreak havoc for WIS.
The way their current structure seems to be built, they obviously don't store credit card information (which is the reason why you always have to enter your info when purchasing new seasons). If you store credit card information as a business, there are a ton of standards you have to incorporate into your databases and web site to be compliant with the PCI (Payment Card Industry). Basically, all the CC vendors got tired of being on the hook for stolen credit card data, so they make companies that offer those payment options on the web meet a bunch of standards that they've set and periodically assess. The high levels of compliance with PCI (like storing CC info) is usually reserved for the bigger companies (think of your major cable companies, insurance providers, etc), not a relatively small specialty shop like WIS. So what most companies do is to just send that data off to a third party vendor, have them verify if the card info is valid, then just trash all of that data so that they aren't held responsible for the info if their databases become compromised.
IP address wouldn't do much either - I mean I access WIS from a few different locations, personally... home, work, WIFI spots on my phone, etc, so that would always be changing.
About the most realistic option I guess would be your billing address (since people could always just change their "home" address as nothing is ever mailed to you). That'd be safe data that they could store without getting into PCI compliance and it should be unique enough that it would, at the very least, significantly reduce the # of multiple teams in the same world. I'd suggest it to CS... but I'd probably get just as far by writing it on a piece of paper here at my desk and throwing it in the garbage.
But as some have said - they like to have ID's in the same world because it puts recruiting on a better schedule for them. I can understand having teams in different divisions - and maybe they can just put something in FSS that won't let you scout lower divisions... that way a D1 team couldn't scout for a D3 team?
