Recruiting on the super-cheap: doable? Topic

Never works for me. Promise alone has never been enough sense the change. It use to be, up until about a year ago. It gets a good responce, but they remain undecided. I got to throw in a few call/coach calls or letters to make it enough value. It never is much, maybe a extra 100 bucks or so. Maybe this changes later in recruiting, but in the first day and early second day just a promised start isn't enough.

furry, maybe it depends on prestige? what prestige are you talking... in d2 it seems to have worked for me on a b ish or better for any player in the d2 pool. for d1 i am not sure but i know it worked for me with an a- for a top couple recruit, and seems to work with crappy prestige for 2 and 3 stars (not sure ive tried it higher).

I've tried it on all prestige levels in div III and div II. Most recently was a C+ and A- in div II, and a B+ in div III. They accept the promise but remain undecided. It doesn't take a whole lot effort extra to get them to consider you the next cycle. If I really want em, I throw in a scouting trip other wise I just do a few phone calls.

This one took some calls and such to get him. I could give more examples, but each time the minutes got rejected and the start accepted, but none EVER would consider me at just that.

I'm really thickheaded - is there a consensus to the question of "can you offer the $110 scholly/call in the same cycle?"  Or does one have to come before the other?

Players consider my teams for only $93 and a moderately chewed piece of gum. I am just that good I guess.

zooeydog / pumphead, I did a call, promised mins and a schollie in one cycle, which got him to consider me. I then did promised starts the next cycle, and he said signed right away. Bear in mind this was all on the last day of recruiting.

After signing starts, I find that if you offer a scholarship to a recruit who did not have an offer before, he usually takes another turn to decide anyway, even if he was considering me.

It is almost as if you can not sign a guy with no scholly on the turn you offer it.  Have others noticed this?

If that is the case, could that be the effect some are seeing here ... then on that second turn (which you would have to wait anyway), they are adding other things (like letters or calls) that they may not need to offer?
