Why the ratings drop? Topic

Got this guy Rule 5. Offer back was declined and he passed thru waivers so I assigned him to my AAA squad. He was in AA last year. He's 22 years old. I know his control is awful, but if he gets to 40, he might be a useful SU if his other projections come close. When he was promoted from AA to AAA after ST, his rating took a 1-2 point drop in quite a few categories. -1 in control, vL, & GB/FB. -2 in vR, P1, & P2.  His AA pitching coach rating last year was 71, my AAA PC this year is 72. Never injured. Can anyone see a reason for such a big drop?

My guess is that with a patience of 60 and a makeup of 72, a perceived 2-level drop when you moved him to AA caused a big ratings hit, but it didn't record on his card for whatever reason until you moved him to AAA.  Maybe it didn't register on the card because the system waits until Opening Day to update the card, and he seems to have made it to AAA by Opening Day.

So because he was on the ML roster for a while as a Rule 5, it was actually a demotion to AAA, not a promotion from AA? Because it's listed as a promotion on his card.

As best I can tell, he was never added to the 40-man or assigned to the ML squad. His decline is because his "promotion" from AA to AAA came after being unassigned and sitting in limbo (no practice, no ST, no games) for a while.
