It could be worse. You could be a coach who has made the post season for 25 seasons in a row, who has won 2 National Titles (out of 3 overall) and 2 PT titles during that time with the last NT title being just 3 seasons ago, who is currently 4th overall in D1 wins 6th overall in NT game wins. Then you can apply for an A- school, leaving your A+ school where you have been for 27 season and be told that they want someone who wins more consistently. You know, the maybe 3-4 coaches in Crum DI who have won more consistently than me. Of course, none of them were given the job. Instead it is given to a coach who has made the post season 6 times in the past 10 seasons.

And yes, I am not an imbecile, (well, maybe I am for playing this game) I know that it is based on the last 4 years. Of course, after winning my most recent NT, i was gang raped with 3 EE's which pushed me down the past 2 seasons. Fair enough, I am going to absolutely crush this program and leave it decimated as a giant screw you to the entire job hiring process as you will never convince me that I should have received an email from the AD that said I did not win consistently enough. Guess what WIS, you fail!
this sucks balls

Wise, I assume you're kidding about that last sentence.

I guess i should have worded it differently.  You dont want to take a d3 coach with no success or something similar.  But at the same time letting a sim run a big time program into the ground is not good either.  There needs to be a better way.  Im quiting d1 due to the crappy hiring process.  Its left me so bitter that I havent even really looked at my team.  Im not a great coach but I have got to be better then a sim.  Or a coach that just went to the final four but has never been to the nt before that.  sorry for the rant guys.
Brian, the hiring criteria isn't "is he better than a sim?" I'm quite sure that you are, lol.

I have no problem with maintaining a certain standard for BCS schools. I'm also not worried about a BCS program being run into the ground. There is always going to be someone who wants to pick up a BCS program and will rebulid it. In my book, the real issue is the low and mid teams that get run into the ground without realistic hopes of getting rescued.

(And again, this isn't a defense of the jobs process as a whole, simply a statement that maintaining a minimum threshold for BCS jobs is a good and necessary thing.)

wisefella,  i think you should talk to the AD and name me as your heir apparent.  if you leave after this season, i just might have enough to get me there.  my dream has been to coach the Cuse.  thank you for your consideration in the future hiring process.

It's situations exactly like these, exactly, as to why there should be more than a four year window involved.  I was gonna propose a hypothetical similar to this, but seeing it actually happen to someone says enough.......

Did you even read what I posted?  I said in the first part of my post that just giving it to the best applicant is probably not the best idea.  Or did you just breeze right over that part?  All I said was that a human coach was better than a Sim coach, not that a human should automatically get it over a Sim.

But thanks anyway for your nice, detailed explanation.  Were it not for that I may have never figured out the job process and how it works.......
OK ... I was quoting you "For Context" and stating my opinion.

Did I somehow personally attack you?

What did I post where you somehow feel you need to personally attack me?
Sorry Hughes, I may have read it in a bad context.  I took it as being kind of patronizing and condescending when I initially read it and I apologize to you for reading it that way (this is emy, by the way).

I think this thread further cements that D2 is the place to be in this version of the sim...I'm at my virgin college and I can be there until kingdom come because I'm not going to get fired...que fantastico!
