I don't understand this.  I traded for this guy who was in the minors and now that I have him he can only be assigned to my ML team.  How does this work?  Shouldn't I just be able to put him where he was?

If a player is out of options, they have to clear waivers before being assigned to a MiLB team.

Thanks strikeout26.  I understand the options thing, but on his original team, he was on the AAA roster.  I traded for him so that I could put him on my AAA roster. 

So are you suggesting, Every new team he ever goes to, he will only be allowed to be on ML team until he clears waivers.  If I trade him will he have to clear waivers again?  That's the part I need clarification on.

Yes, that's how it works.  I got burned by that once, too. I don't think that's how it works in real MLB, but that's how it works here.

I think the problem is, he was on the 40 man roster.  In real life, a player like that, who's MiL options were expired, wouldn't have been on anyone's 40 man roster (I'm not even sure if they could be w/o being up w/ the big league club)
