recruiting signing period too long?! Topic

has anyone ever signed anyone in the last 12-24 hours of the signing period?

most of my signings ALWAYS happen at 8:01 pm of the first day of signing. by 8:00 am the next day - at the latest, even when i played d1.
then i have almost 48 hours to wait before setting my depth chart / practice settings.

are the d1 big boys (who spend a truckload of cash) the only teams still involved at that stage?

it seems like a lot of wasted time - for the majority of coaches.....or is it just me?

For whatever reason there are coaches signing players on that last day, even the last hour of the last day. I have always felt recruiting takes too long. I would like to see it reduced by 24 hours or at least cut it off after the 8PM cycle on the final day.

When i only have 1-2 openings, its good strategy to recruit later

Take that day off from there and stick it inbetween the NT seedings being announced and the first game being played so there is time to deal with any seeding issues?

And how often are there seeding issues?  I know it just happened to you, but it's something that almost never happens and it doesn't make sense to have a day to sort through something that happens once every 500 seasons.  I do think the last day is a little long, but for some coaches it is a crucial time to build their teams.  Some of the best recruits I have ever signed came on that last day so it is far from meaningless.

Its you (and some others).

Coaches recruit on the last day. Different coaches at different divisions use different strategies.

I have seen some top d3 coaches sign all their players on the last day. Guess they are just waiting to see if that stud player will drop down, or maybe some D2 teams let go of some players.

that and the higher prestige teams that lost out on earlier battles turn to the rest - typically taking recruits that lower rated teams haven't locked up - or swooping down and (basically) stealing a recruit that two lower rated teams have battled over...which is kinda cheesy.
understandable but cheesy nonetheless.
