What's the bare minimum, 1 HV?

Really depends on prestige and the recruits rank. I've heard of situations where all a coach has done is offer a scholarship and make a phone call.

I've signed guys without any HV's at DII and DIII.

The least I've ever signed a guy for is $110, which was a promise and a schollie.  Back in the old days you could do it with a 15 minute promise and a schollie, but now you need to offer the starting spot.

In D1, I once had a guy considering me after just one scouting trip.  That's the lowest amount of recruiting effort I've ever seen get someone to consider you.  That was with a high prestige school and a low quality recruit though - late in the signing period.

I signed this guy with 1) a letter first; then 2) a scholarship offer; then 3) a letter (or phone call, not sure which) and a starting promise.

He began the season rated 451 overall. We had an A prestige coming off a D3 NT final loss.

What's worth more, starting promise or PT promise (10min)? I feel like starting promise always has the player playing more than I want them to. 

I *believe* - but by all means someone with a better handle on HD correct me if I am wrong - that a starting promise is worth more than a PT promise.

I signed a D1 guy this season with a PT promise and a Schollie. Granted he sucks but it worked... lol C+ prestige, 2nd season, NT last year.

Yes, a starting spot is worth something close to a CV.  A 15-min promise is worth about half of that.  

I've never tried to figure out the difference between say, a 10-min promise and a 30-min promise.  My guess is 30-min is still less that a start, but I'm not sure.

Typically, if I'm going to use promises, I use them together - start and 15 min, for example.  If you're going to promise a start, it seems like you might as well offer the minutes too.

I almost always use 15 min, since it's pretty easy to deliver.  I don't think I've ever used 30, since most of my seniors don't even play 30 min.

if the guy's talent is way below what it should be for your team you can go on the cheap without promises. I've got a couple scrubs (for D1 A prestige) on my team now that I signed for $125 & $135, which probably should have just been $110, phone call and an offer, but I wasn't going to fill all my scholarships so I went ahead and spent the extra $40 on them. Those are just the most recent examples, I've had quite a few under $200 roster fillers, all without promises.

I guess it's time to submit my feedbacks. I signed a couple of D2 dropdowns with 10min promise time, w/o a freshman start promise. Started with phone call + packet, 10min promise time next cycle with scholarship, and the players sign the following cycle.
