Is there any way to tell who the opposing pitcher will be in the first game of a playoff series?

Nope. The best you can do is a make a guess based on who is rested and who the oppositions ace is.

Go through their ML roster and find the pitcher who's designated as SP1.  Unless they make a last minute change, that's most likely who it will be.

Their depth chart is a good place to do this.  It separates the players based on who they have set as starters and relievers.
