Week 3 games:
UW-Osh Kosh defeats Stockton Ospreys 66-64:
After a great 30 minutes the Stockton Ospreys were up by 12, then they tired out. They gave up a 17 unanswered point to the Osh KoshTitans in the final 7 mintues. In the final two mintues the Ospreys tried to come back, even tying it on the 5th three pointer by PG star Henry Veal when 24 seconds remaining. Osh Kosh held for the last shot and was fould with 00 on the clock, Josh Schnakenberg made both free throws to win the game. He also earn POG getting 14 second half points and 20 total. Veal ended with 25 for Stockton.
UW-Stout slams door on Hope 86-73:
Hope came into the game one of the top offenses in the country but were shut down by and aggressive Stout zone defense. They only shot 41 % and 73 points after going over 100 in every earlier game. Senior Hope guards Ricky Hull and Ernst Moseley got their first start of the season and only shot 7 of 21 and 6 of 19 behind the arc. Stout's Samuel Cahill ended up with POG with his great defense, 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists in only 21 minutes.
William Paterson pounds Eastern 88-80:
WPU took a large first half lead relying on James Craven, but Eastern kept driving back in the second half. They just could not take the next step and take the lead. WPU's ability to score with thier posts was a key factor. PF Craven ended with 32 points and 7 boards proofing why he was a preseason all-american.
# 3 Rockford blows out Mary Washington 81-60:
Rockford efficeint slowdown flex offense scored 81 points making 63% of thier shots. They spread the ball around and took high quality shots getting four players in double figures. SimAI Mary Washignton came into the the tourney 2-0 and after one game is wonder how good are they. PG Michael Hightower received POG honors with 14 points and 4 assists.
# 6 US Coast Guard survives against Blackburn 90-83:
In a back and forth battle for two top teams USCGA came up on top. Blackburn can score in every way possible and with everyone on the team, Eight players score more than 8 points a game. While USCGA rely's on points off turnovers from press defense and a sharp shooting backcourt. The game was close until the end when USCGA made it free throws with a small lead to close it out.
