What is the worst injury (time on DL) you've seen in HBD? I ask because I had a 20 y.o. MiL pitcher go down for 359 days with a shoulder aneurysm. Seems pretty serious. This guy is not future BL stuff but since we are playing game #128 it sure brings up a lot of questions if he were. What's the long range impact an injury like this and what personal factors influence full recovery? What would happen if he were a high priced FA or an ARB guy at the end of this season? Would his demands go down? If you didn't want to take a chance on him, could he be released then? Worst of all, if he were a high priced guy in the middle of a multi-year contract I guess you are just stuck, even if he never fully recovers. Anyone ever see this  happen? I'm hoping Simmy isn't that big of an ***.

Do you think players never have major injuries?

Yes this happens. Sometimes it will feel like it's happening a lot, sometimes you will go long stretches without any of your meaningful players out more than a week or two. The more you are concerned about this, the more you would want to choose players with high health ratings and the more resources you would want to allocate to Training and Medical.

A contract is a contract. If you don't care for the risk vs. return then don't offer a long term deal.

Simmy is not an ***, but he can be capricious and he definitely has a sense of humor.

Simmy capricious is good, but sometimes I'm pretty sure he hates me. And Mike, did I say anything thinking players can't have injuries? I asked a couple of questions that wouldn't be too difficult for someone of your vast experience just to answer. But then again, I have noticed you are equally good at being a richard cranium and providing useful information. Thank you very big.

That is a very astute observation.   You should have noticed that I have a low tolerance for the pre-whine/complaint threads when the game reflects a somewhat real-life action.    Long-term signees get injured in the real world, there's no reason it shouldn't be part of HBD.   Your last sentence seemed to imply that such a thing should never occur in HBD.

It wasn't a whine, I was implying that I hope to avoid that kind of bad luck. I was asking; what's the longest time on the DL anyone has seen, does a guy ask for the same kind of money as FA or in Arb even though he's going to miss most or all of the up coming season, and what the options are if it does happen? Not asked but wondering based on the logic at times, if the Capricious Simmy is not actually a woman in menopause.

I haven't seen the exact situation you asked about, but I once traded for a pitcher with top shelf ratings who was abused by a former owner, allowed to go multiple starts at 0. Somehow managed to escape injury despite the abuse. His contract expired the season I got him. I assume due to his astronomical ERA, he was willing to resign at a bargain price. I know, different than your question, but take it for what it's worth.

http://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=2485588 A case in point. We are near the end of the season. This lengthy injury will definitely keep him out well into next season. He never pitched as well as I hoped he would and now he never will. Thankfully this happened pre-arb, so at least he isn't going to cost me much money.
