Holy Crap- CS/recruiting question Topic

I was always under the impression that SIMs recruited with "recruiting credits" not $. They will keep putting in effort via credits as long as they are not knocked off, and credits are not affected by distance.  So pretty much what CS has answered.
i don't think simmy uses credits over time. they may build considering credit over time which may cause you to fall behind after slightly ahead. but to the best of my knowledge once a sim spends money in the first cycle, they sit there 100% dormant until a few cycles after signings when they will only spend money on guys they have not yet spend money on, in an attempt to fill their roster.

i am not sure what people were telling you in the original thread, which i have not seen. but what CS seems to be saying, i thought was exactly the general consensus among coaches. sims recruit totally differently, and are not impacted by distance, no matter if its international or not. the conclusion being it can be prohibitively expensive to recruit against a sim for internationals.

i also personally feel like sims are not impacted by prestige to the effect they should be. but thats just my observation, i haven't heard other coaches support that.
Heres a link to the original thread-- not a lot of response, but the ambiguity led me to send a ticket: www.whatifsports.com/forums/Posts.aspx Some pretty long-term and accomplished coaches with very different ideas. And I haven't recruited against SIM on internationals enough times to have a strong opinion on it, or even a good feel for it. On the prestige thing, I've never noticed that lack of impact, but never really recruit against em in d3, and my only d1 school has good prestige so it rarely matters when fighting off Simmy.

@ tianyi- I don't care if they use credits or $ (po-tay-to : po-tah-to), but the FAQ shows their equivalent recruiting costs to be ~200 mile costs regardless of distance, meaning I can figure out some amount of equivalent spend to overcome what i think they've "spent" (or credited).

All semantics, but I think it's important that we have a way to measure effort, or at least possible maximum effort, from any school we face in recruiting.

But my takeaway is that billyg is right, given the right circumstances it can be very difficult to knock Simmy off an international recruit.

Well wronoj if you are gonna focus on my post, you might as well include the second part which talks about their credits not affected by distance. If they are recruiting with cash, then distance becomes factor. Bottom line, it's very difficult to knock off sims internationally when they are not suffering from the massive distance cost while you are.

yup, that was the whole point of the thread and ticket-- determining how much their edge was, since it wasn't clear in the FAQ or my previous thread.

Glad they answered. Not sure I agree with the set-up, but at least now I know for sure what it is and can plan accordingly.
