is there a penalty if you play a PG as a SG?  if they have the right attributes would the be as successful as a SG at that position?

In the old engine there was a small penalty if you played a player either 2 or 3 positions off (PG as PF, etc.) but in the new engine there is no penalty for playing any player anywhere. I just played a game where I started 1 C and 4 PG's...and pulled off a big upset! (LOL)

No penalty, I do this all the time.  There used to be a penalty if you move someone more than one position away from their natural position, but I believe that has been abolished.

listed positions only serve to screw up end of year awards at this point as far as I can tell
